Visiting Hazzard County ▪ Home ▪ Covington, GA
Last winter I was sitting on the couch with my laptop watching the Dukes of Hazzard. Intrigued about the real Hazzard County, I began searching the internet. I came across a site by Duchy with addresses of filming locations in Covington, Newton County, GA and Conyers, Rockdale County, GA. I got very excited and began mapping the addresses on Google Earth, zooming in so I could see the sites. Needing some more information I came across another site by Rob. He had a scanned map of the site locations which helped me out a lot.
Being a huge fan of the show in my younger years, at that moment I started planning my summer vacation.... All I needed was my wife to go along with it. As summer approached, we started looking at places to go on vacation and started thinking about Hilton Head. Perfect!!! We could make a small detour to Georgia!
After arriving in Covington late on Friday night, we checked into a Super 8 motel right off of I-20 and headed into town.
Most of the restaurants were closed by that time, so we headed back to the motel and had dinner next door at the Waffle House. It was a good choice because the cook there was telling all kinds of You Might Be A Redneck jokes. We were entertained for the entire meal!
We woke up early the next morning checked out of the motel and hit the Dukes of Hazzard sites. Before heading off for Hilton Head we made a stop at the Touch of Country store to pick up some souvenirs.
